Page speed and SEO checklist
Run a public PageSpeed-style performance snapshot when configured, plus a practical on-page SEO checklist you can use on any site.
Optional PageSpeed snapshot
When GOOGLE_PAGESPEED_API_KEY is set on the server, we proxy a single mobile run for performance and SEO category scores. Without a key, only the checklist below applies.
Practical SEO checklist
Crawl and index
- Robots.txt allows important sections and blocks only what you intend.
- XML sitemap is referenced in Search Console and returns 200.
- Canonical tags resolve duplicate URL variants to one preferred URL.
On-page
- Each primary page has a unique title under roughly 60 characters where possible.
- Meta descriptions summarize the page and include a clear benefit.
- H1 matches page intent; headings follow a logical order.
Content and intent
- Primary queries are answered above the fold without intrusive interstitials.
- Internal links point to related pages with descriptive anchor text.
Performance basics
- Largest above-the-fold image is appropriately sized and compressed.
- Critical scripts do not block rendering unnecessarily.
- Layout shifts from ads or embeds are minimized (CLS).
